
Rusk County Animal Shelter (RCAS), a no kill facility is committed to providing a safe refuge, nutrition, veterinary care, spay/neuter services and an opportunity for a better life to all stray, unwanted, abused, injured and neglected animals in our community.
Our purpose is to protect and serve the people and animals of Rusk County through intervention, education, communication and by promoting responsible pet ownership through our spay/neuter voucher program. Rusk County Animal Shelter is dedicated to finding all the animals in our care new homes through social media and networking with other animal organizations. We will continue to support animal welfare by ensuring that all the animals in our care are healthy, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and spayed/neutered before they are adopted.
The Rusk County Animal Shelter is a municipal shelter serving Rusk County Wisconsin. We shelter and provide supportive care for stray and un-wanted domestic animals until they can be reunited with their owners or adopted by new families. We take in any and all stray dogs and cats from Rusk County. We do not board animals.
Services Available:
- How will your pet find its way home if he gets lost? An engraved name tag could save you pet’s life! Choose from a variety of shapes, colors and fonts. Light weight and durable! Available at the shelter for only $7.50 and ready in minutes.
- County dog licenses can be purchased at our shelter or Municipal Clerk’s Office.
- Surrender’s: Animals surrendered by their owners are accepted ONLY if there is room at the shelter.

Out of County: 50.00$ (for one animal)
Litters of animals:
In county: 10.00$ (per animal)
Out of county 15.00$ (per animal)

Normal business hours are 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Mon, Wed, Fri.
By Appointment Only on Tues, Thurs, Sat, Sun.
If you are unable to come in during normal business hours an afterhours or weekend appointment might be arranged depending on availability of staff.
If you find a stray cat or dog after hours, on the weekend or on a holiday please call Dispatch at (715) 532-2200. If you have an animal complaint or concern, please contact the Humane Officer at 715-415-9942.
